Islands of Fire and Water
For as long as anyone can remember, the Tribe of Water and the Tribe of Fire have been at war — since the Great Divide that separated them, an event long since past. But things are changing — and the next generation of each Tribe have made some startling discoveries. Can Kekoa, Ikaika, Ililani and Ynez forge a new peace between their warring tribes? Or will the hostility continue, plaguing generations to come?
The Jade Star of Athering (NaNoWriMo 2009)
Bellica Agate has never cared particularly about anything outside her sphere — she and her Regiment have been stationed in Harbourtown for the past decade, and that’s the only town in Athering they’ve been terribly concerned about.
But just a few months ago, she and her regiment got called back to Atherton, where they fought against an invading force intent on taking their homeland. And now a new trouble has arisen — a bandit army has occupied Southland, led by a woman calling herself the Gypsy Queen. Athering’s own Queen has asked Bellica Agate to go on a diplomatic mission to Southland to discuss a truce with the bandit army.
Agate agrees, but this mission is more than it seems…and the secret she discovers could change Athering — and her — forever.
Dead Transgressions (NaNoWriMo 2011 — WINNER)
Athering is in the heyday of its Second Age — magic and technology have become entwined like lovers, the Magi threat has all but been eliminated, and all is at peace…for the nobility, that is.
For Adrasteia deKarme, business is struggling. The only people with good mysteries to solve cannot afford her rates, and those who can afford her are bored and complacent, safe in their tall towers.
Just when she thinks she may have to give up the PI business all together, a case lands in her lap — a case too big, too juicy to resist, even if she must serve the people she hates. The young Duchess Calypso of Aeril has been receiving death threats, and a few “accidents” have scared the Queen enough to call Adrasteia.
This case is more than it seems. While Adrasteia has never been inclined to run away, the closer she gets to answers, the closer the danger comes to her own door. Will she solve the mystery in time to save the young duchess? Or will the perpetrators get two lives for the price of one?
An Adrasteia deKarme mystery.
