maybe daily poetry
is too hard
maybe I can’t dig
that deep
in the five minutes
before I leave for work

but I persist
until my fingernails
find bone
until the venom
is expelled
and I
am exhausted
but clean.

(I’ve been writing a poem a day this month for Camp Nanowrimo and it has been difficult, but I think I’m producing some really great stuff. It’s all for Rewolfing the Soul, for which I hope to have a finished manuscript by next month.)
